Watching the eclipse

As we were outside today, we saw the amazing, marvellous and unforgettable eclipse. When it was almost time, we grabbed some paper and made a pin hole projector so that we could watch the moon go past the sun. We saw the moon overlap the blinding sun. We used the pinhole projectors so that we could see the eclipse safely. Kayleigh said that, "I think the eclipse was amazing!" Aimee said that, "if you stare into the sun you can damage your eyes so don't do it!" Tyreece told us that, "As we watched the eclipse, the moon overlapped the sun slowly." We found out that as good as it is to watch the amazing eclipse, you should also be very careful while watching the experience.

Our sense poems about Lincoln

The sense of Lincoln by Corie

Lincoln, Lincoln, oh lovely old Lincoln

Where the birds dance in the sky,

The wind whispered as I walk past,

The snow is a freezing cold fridge,

It’s fantastic when the wind swiftly blows lovely air at you,

You walk on the rock hard path as your feet melt into the dirty sloppy mud,

The wind is so strong it was blowing me over

The clouds are black and the rain is smashing to the ground like wrecking balls

Lincoln, Lincoln, oh lovely old Lincoln

A sense of Lincoln  by Jamie

I can see the icy paths and the empty trees,

I can hear the wind whooshing and cars driving

I can feel the snow and the snow is as white as feathers

I can small the fires that people have lit and the petrol from cars

 Lincoln, glorious Lincoln by Stefan
As you walk you can hear the sound of birds chirping in the air,
Rain falls and kisses my cheek,
Buses driving with their engines gushing with smoke,
Trees swishing side to side ,
Feel the wind blow through your hair,
Water is rushing down the muddy streams it’s a dream,
Steam coming from the station,
Eagles screaming like an engine,
Dogs growling while being woken up

Our international day presentations

Class 11 have worked their socks off today!

The children created AMAZING PowerPoints about their dream holiday destination, using information that they researched and persuasive language.

They are SO good that we decided to put them all online!!

International Day

Today was international day so we wrote presentations and there were four activities. The activities were clay modelling, food tasting, around the world paintings and Indian paintings. Some comments from our class!

I loved cooking the Spanish food!

I liked learning new SPanish words!

I liked making the Eiffel Tower with clay!

I made a Stonehenge model!

W learnt how to make a boring dish into an exciting one!

My favourite part of the presentation was when I told everyone stuff that they didn't know!

Linking science and literacy

We created beautiful collages in geography to show the different biomes around the world.

Then we used our poetic skills to turn our creations into image poems!

We used similes, metaphors, alliteration, onomatopoeia and personification in our work.

Please leave a comment, you could write a good example of one of these poetic techniques!!

Well done Class 11

We had a lovely comment from a member of the public who spoke to Leah and Paige at our book launch. I wanted to share it as I was so proud!!

“I was lucky enough to be ‘caught’ by two of your pupils in Lincoln this week and what fantastic children they were. I know that they wanted to sell me their book but they were so knowledgeable and engaging that I wanted you to know that Paige and Leah really impressed me. I worked with senior school children in Southampton ten years ago and would have been proud if they had been my pupils. Well done St Giles I hope you go from strength to strength!”
